Preview: 18 and East A/W Collection

15 Aug

Some of you may have seen that fashion brand 18 and East were running a bloggers competition last week. The task was to send them a playlist of five songs to play at their Autumn/Winter shoot and the winner would get to go down to the shoot itself. On Thursday I was over the moon to discover that my playlist had been chosen as the winner!

18 and East are a new brand which launched in April 2011, I first discovered them when visiting the Push PR day back in April and totally fell for their edgy yet wearable pieces. Their clothes are designed for those with their own sense of style, who like to show their personality through the way they dress and want to look individual – can anyone else relate?!

I was so excited to check out the new collection, which included some amazing brights:

18 and East also create their own unique in-house prints as seen on this floaty winged shirt and bird print skirt:

I absolutely fell in love with this jersey fringed cape, which was initially styled with Doc Martins and then a peep toe wedged boot:

The collection also featured two little black dresses with a difference. They both had eye-catching yet subtle detailing on them and were in beautiful feminine fabrics:

I was lucky enough to have a professional photo taken of me wearing one of their pieces, and I chose the beaded cape dress. I absolutely love the detailing and little capelet:

And as Tyra says, ‘this was my best shot’:

It was really interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes at a shoot and meet the lovely people behind the brand as well.

Dressing the model:

Looking through the photos:

The shoot took place at Kingsland Road Studio, a seriously awesome place, with a huge skylit room with communal kitchen and working area, and the beach huts are actually bedrooms – cool or what?

Although I’m a real high street girl, I think it’s so important to support smaller brands like 18 and East, so get shopping people! You can find their pieces on their website, New Look as well as various independent shops around the UK. The A/W collection will be available to buy at the end of August.

Thanks so much for letting me be a part of your A/W shoot 18 and East, I had such a great day and loved every moment.

Aw thanks so much!! I was my first time in front of a professional photographer which was a bit intimidating! The model was so professional so I just tried to copy her moves 🙂

      My playlist was:
Edge of Glory or Hair by Lady Gaga – At the start of the shoot to get the crew in the mood
Let Me Go by Maverick Sabre – Upbeat new music, up and coming
Call your Girlfriend by Robyn – Got a good beat to keep the energy up
Monster by Paramore – A little bit alternative, to give 18 and East the edge.
Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri – Up and coming female vocalist, really good for chill out at the end of the shoot.

What do you think of 18 and East? I’m loving their new collection so much!!! x
