Nails: Ciaté Mini Mani Month

6 Dec

So you may have noticed my excitement last week when I instagrammed my advent calendar… it’s only the Ciaté Mini Mani Month! I know we’re a few days into December now but I think this could still make an epic gift as you get 25 polishes for £38 (full size polishes are usually £9) or you could just treat yourself and open multiple days as soon as you get it!

Here’s the outer packaging:

And it opens up to look like this:

Mini mani month 1

The polishes I’ve got so far are Cupcake Queen, Caviar Pearls in Prom Queen (currently only available in Caviar Mini set), Dangerous Affair, Halo and Cabaret.

I’m so excited to try out the Caviar Pearls and you’ll definitely be seeing a lot of Ciaté in my Nails of the Week posts! There’s also three exclusive new polishes in the calendar which I’m eager to discover.

What advent calendar have you got this year? I know there are a few beauty ones out there as well as lots of lovely chocolatey ones – yum!

NOTW: Cute Cupcakes

23 Nov

I’m so excited about my seriously cute Nails of the Week:

To get this look I followed this tutorial from YouTuber CutePolish:

I used the following products (doesn’t the lid of my JolieBox makes a great nail polish tray?!):

Revlon Quick Dry Basecoat

Essie Eternal Optimist (2nd coat)

Models Own Vintage Pink (1st coat)

Topshop Nails One Hot Minute (applied with striping brush)

Rimmel Nail Tip Whitener (applied with dotting tool)

Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

Pink stripes, hearts, cupcakes – this is my favourite ever nail art!!! It’s not high fashion but it’s fun and creative. What are your thoughts on nail art?

NOTW: Nude Sparkles

13 Nov

Here are my nails of the week, I love the juxtaposition of three coats of sensible nude with an impulsive sweep of glitter at the end!

The polishes are: Nude Beige by Models Own – this looks very different in the bottle – much more pinky! And Disco Ball by Rimmel:

And the knuckle ring is from the Etsy shop ModernMeetsWhimsy, who do some seriously cute dainty pieces. I’m also loving this Love Me Knot Ring (£12)!

What polish are you wearing this week?

OOTD – April Showers

19 Apr

White Blouse: Primark

Red Jumper: H&M

Kristen High Waisted Jeans – Topshop

Fur Detail Jacket: Motel

Tillie Bag: Mulberry

Brown Riding Style Boots: Lotus Hallmark

Nails: Rimmel Lycra Pro in 391 Celebrity Bash

What a strange week of weather we’ve had with our April Showers. You look out of the window and it’s a beautiful, bright, sunny morning, thirty minutes later you step outside and pouring with rain! The solution? Stick on a nice big coat, a pair of puddle protecting boots and always carry an umbrella!

What’s your rainy day item of choice?

Chilling in my Docs

5 Feb

Red Bobble Hat: Primark

Check Scarf: TK Maxx

Grey Mixed Knit Jumper: H&M

Navy Leigh Jeans: Topshop

Parka: H&M

BIG Leather Bag: All Saints

Socks: Primark

Gloves: Mulberry

Boots: Doc Martens from Office

Nails: It’s Time to Rock by Sephora

So here’s a look from Friday before it snowed, it was still freezing cold so I had piled on the layers for a very casual day at work. I’m still breaking in my Doc Martens, which I do love so much. They are incredibly comfy and supportive at the same time! Wearing them with big snuggly socks makes me happy.

I didn’t realize quite how coordinated I was until I got to work and noticed all the red and maroon but think it somehow worked. I’m seriously obsessed with my new(ish) bag from All Saints, which is so huge I can store everything I could every need in it. I’m a big bag lady and proud!

To everyone who’s had some, I hope you enjoyed the snow. I kind of wish I’d done a snowy OOTD but it was just too cold and I had a massive duvet day instead!

NOTD: Christmas Sparkles

24 Dec

Christmas is upon us! I’m a bit of a sucker for a theme so my outfits of late have consisted of Christmas jumpers, fair isle leggings, a lot of red velvet and my Primark snowman socks! And why should nails be left out? I decided to let them join in by giving them a bit of Christmas Sparkle:

Here’s what I used to create the sparkly nail look:

I started with a coat of Rimmel Lycra Pro in 421 Clearly Clear as a base coat.

I then applied 2 coats of Rimmel Lycra Pro in 391 Celebrity Bash.

Then I added 17 Glitter Top Coat to the top two- thirds of each nail, and used a regular paint brush to add the Stargazer Glitter Shaker in Copper to the tip of the nail and graduated it down towards the base of the nail.I did this for each nail one at a time so that the 17 Glitter Top Coat wouldn’t dry while I added the Stargazer Glitter to each nail.

I finished them off with one coat of Rimmel Pro SuperWear Ultrashine Topcoat and TA DA:

The sparkles don’t fully come across in the photos, but they really are quite dazzling without being too over the top. I love the Stargazer Glitter (also featured in my Accent Nail post):

As you can probably tell I’m also a huge fan of the Rimmel Lycra Pro range, which I reviewed here. I don’t really buy any other nail varnish as nothing else compares!

What have you been wearing on your nails this festive season?

Merry Christmas everyone!

Trendwatch: The Accent Nail

9 Aug

So I’m a tiny bit late getting on this bandwagon… my excuse is that I was waiting for the right colour combination which just happened to come along in the 50% off deal that ELF were having.

It consists of the shades Mod Mauve and Copper (usually £1.50 but an extra bargainous 75p on the offer – amazing!)

I felt it needed a little extra (and I’m a glitter fiend as you know) so topped up the accent with some Stargazer Glitter which I just happened to have in the exact same colour!

And this is the final result – left without flash, right with flash:

I’m absolutely loving my ring finger bling! I keep oohing and aahing everything I look at my nails. I can’t help but think we need the little things to help us keep smiling with everything that’s being going on in London and throughout the UK this week with the riots.

For 75p the nail varnishes were really good – although I did have to use three coats rather than my usual two and I’m not sure about staying power yet (will keep you updated).

Have you tried the accent nail trend yet? I’m slightly stumped about colour combos so I’d love it if you could recommend me any!

Please stay safe wherever you are,

July Favourites

6 Aug

Hello lovely readers!

Apologies for the lack of blogging this week. I’ve been really busy, mainly organising my trip to South East Asia later this month (exciting!) – will post more about that soon.

So here’s a bit of a belated product review day vlog, my July favourites! I did film it in July but only just got round to editing it!

What were your July favourites? Have you tried any of the Herbal Essences products and loved/hated them? I’d love to know, LDNshopaholic xxx

Nailed It

19 May

So I thought being the product junkie that I am, it’s only right to share my favourite products with you and rant about the ones that I don’t like (and save you from spending money on them)! For this reason I’m making Thursday my product review day. I really do have a bit of a product addiction, which means my family bathroom is sprawling with my ‘stuff’ (as it is described by Dad and brother.)

Anyway down to business! This week I’m blogging about my favourite nail varnish IN THE WORLD: Rimmel’s Lasting Nail Finish Pro Enamel. They’ve revamped the packaging and name (it used to be Rimmel Lycra Pro) and it now looks like this:

To be honest, I think I preferred the round bottles they had before (see below) which made them easy to hold whilst applying but oh well!

Reasons why I love it:

1. The easy application ‘maxi’ brush.

The wide flat brush makes applying this a dream. No messiness and the coats (I put on two) are ever so even.

2. It doesn’t break the bank

Depending on where you go and what deals are on prices vary from about £3.50 to £5 per bottle. Rimmel often run 3 for 2’s where I buy about 6 bottles!!! I’ve tried Nails Inc. and O.P.I. varnishes which are more expensive and not half as good (might rant about these at a later date!).

My ever-growing collection of Rimmel Lycra Pro's!

3. It ACTUALLY lasts for 10 days (or more!)

It does what it says, here’s a photo of my nails on day 11 wearing Hot Gossip:

Obviously they don’t look freshly painted anymore, but the nails tips are almost perfect even though I have a job which involves A LOT of typing. It’s grown out at the nail base but that’s pretty much it!

Here are a couple of shots of my favourite colours at the moment. I did my fingernails in Coral Romance:

And my toenails in the ever so cute Peppermint:

I’ve actually been meaning to blog about this for ages (iPhoto tells me I took this photo on April 20), and my toenails are still in pristine condition (due to their slower growth rate). That’s an entire month, chip-free! Amazing or what?!

I bought their Matte Finish Top Coat which I can’t wait to try out with some sunshine yellow polish and short rounded nails (I’m thinking Glasto might be the occasion for this)! Will def. blog about that when I find the perfect yellow shade.

Definitely give them a go if you’re going away on holiday and want your varnish to last without having to fork out for a manicure.
