Birthday Giveaway!

9 Jan

Hi everyone!!

So some of you might know it was my birthday yesterday! I had a lovely weekend and will be blogging about my birthday related activities over the next few days…

In the meanwhile, I felt like this would be a fabulous time to do a giveaway for all my followers to say thank you for supporting me with my blog so far… having had a ridiculously HUGE MAC shopping spree which I documented in the following haul video:

… I have two fabulous MAC products to giveaway to one lucky winner:

They are MAC Whirls and Twirls Lipstick from the Glitter and Ice collection (which has been SOLD OUT in the UK for AGES!) and MAC Lipglass in Entice.

To enter you can (one entry per thing!):

  • Subscribe to my blog (little button on the right)
  • Follow me on Twitter
  • Retweet my Tweet about the giveaway
  • Like my Facebook page
  • Subscribe to my YouTube Channel
  • Leave me a comment telling me what your favourite MAC product is and why.

Also leave me a comment to say which you’ve done, so I can keep track!

Good luck everyone!

My Five Piece Wardrobe

Fab Fashion Finder

1 Aug

I’ve only gone and stumbled upon a seriously amazing website…

It happened quite accidentally whilst browsing my online shop of choice: ASOS, which is generally a daily occurence.

However, where the ‘Beauty’ tab used to be, there’s a new ‘Outfits and Looks’ tab. Where did this come from? How did I not notice?! Why on earth did they not inform me of these changes?! – I like t0 consider myself an ASOS VIP/fashion slave, seeing as I’ve been making monthly purchases from them since at least 2006.

Anywho, I was intrigued and clicked on the tab on to discover the ASOS Fashion Finder site. Essentially this is an ASOS social network for fashionistas/shopaholics like you and me!

I could go out on a limb here and suggest this may revolutionise our shopping experience, sway us into buying more (and more often), as well as keeping us totally up to date on what’s new.

Okay now I’ll stop going on about it and give you a peek (or you can click here and have a browse of it yourself):

You don’t have to sign up, as the site is viewable by anyone, but it’s more interactive if you do. In the top right corner there’s an option to sign in/sign up. Just put in a few details (name, username, e-mail address, password) and you’re ready to go!

So I’ll give you quick description of the tabs:

Trends: This features details on current/upcoming trends with pictures from the catwalk as well as outfit suggestions and look posts (further desciption of these below).

Outfits – These are outfit suggestions put together by site members which are a bit like mood boards. They can include anything from images of celebrities and arty images to quirky backgrounds and items from the ASOS site. Browse via the dropdown to see suggestions by Trend e.g. Americana/Seventies or function -Tea Party/Dinner date, Designer Inspiration – Chanel or Celebrities – Sarah Jessica Parker. I could literally be here for HOURS looking at everything!

Looks – This tab is much more geared at the community. Here you can upload pictures of your outfits and have them voted for. The more votes, the more popular and more likely to be seen by others. I think the concept is great for styling inspiration. You can also browse the Looks section by trend, celebrity or event (e.g. Fashion Week) but I love to see how real people respond to trends and style themselves.

SHOP: This pretty much takes you to the main ASOS site.

COMPETITIONS: These competitions encourage you to interact online by creating outfits or posting a look. Prizes include £300 to spend on ASOS as well as feature in their magazine. There’s an average of about 7000 entries in past competitions!

MEMBERS: Here you can browse the member list, see who’s new, popular this week, or in the Hall of Fame. Over time members get badges such as ‘Style Icon’ or ‘Fashion Hero’ while everyone starts off being a ‘Style Rookie’.

I’m still getting to grips with it but I’m loving it so far! You can check out my profile here. I know this will only feed my habit but you have to admit, recieving a large parcel of ASOS goodies makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Motel Rocks My World!

17 May

So, you’ve got a massive night out planned…. to celebrate the end of exams / your best friend’s birthday / a hen do. But alas, amongst all your clothes, you have NOTHING to wear. The right dress makes you feel a certain way… gives you confidence, makes you stand out, but doesn’t wear you. After four years at university (that’s a minimum of 3 nights out a week), and now a regular London clubber, I decided to share my secret…. Motel! My go-to brand for finding the perfect going out dress.

They made an impact with their stripey (with a hint of floral) bodycon numbers (trust me, you know the one I’m talking about), and have since created a variety of prints which are unique yet wearable.  The dresses fit in all the right places, reveal just enough flesh and are TOTALLY AFFORDABLE! Too good to be true?! Indeed… I don’t know how they do it!

A couple of my favourite Motel dresses at the moment are:

The Katy in Tropical Hawaii (£32) which is very feminine and would stand out in a bar whether it’s in London…. or Ibiza! And as I like their bolder prints, I couldn’t resist the ‘out there’ Cosmic print shown here on the Blake dress (also £32). The sheer excitement of wearing the universe is slightly overwhelming!

If you’re not a fan of the Bodycon dress, then fear not, Motel have a huuuge range of playsuits, fit and flare dresses, as well as trousers, tops and knits. My favourite playsuit is the Grace in Wallflower (£48) which could be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. I also LOVE the fabulous Jordan Jean in Black and White Stripe (£52), perfect for my inner rock chick…*sigh*.

If you’re eyeing up these lush lovelies and thinking ‘I want a piece of that!’. Well… the lovely people at Motel are running a competition, along with the amazingly talented Wah Nails, to win an item of clothing of YOUR choice!

Here’s how to win:

So, for example going clockwise from the beginning, the first three are: Triangle, Tropical Hawaii and Wallflower, you could also mention the designs which feature the prints e.g the Jordan Jean and Gypsy Playsuit in Pretty Rose. To enter click on the image above and post the names of the designs on their wall.

You can also enter to win £200 on their website, and 10 runners up will receive Models Own Goody Bags!

Good Luck!

Freebie Friday – Chelsea Girl

5 May

How awesome was April? Fab weather, bank holidays and the Royal Wedding! Being the first Friday of May (how did that happen?!), it’s FREEBIE Friday!

And this month it’s all about River Island‘s Retro Chelsea Girl label.

I first spotted the label at Westfield’s Big Fashion Wardrobe and since then I stumbled upon their pop-up shop at Selfridges.

Chelsea Girl was the first fashion boutique chain (established on Kings Road in 1965), which eventually became River Island in the 80s. It’s popularity peaked in the 70s and the collection really fits in with this season’s return to Seventies style. The collection is being trialled this Summer, but if sales are good Chelsea Girl may well be here to stay… so get shopping fellow-lovers-of-previous-era’s!

I love the entire collection and think it definitely deserves a look, if not about twenty purchases!! My current favourites include:

Ever so retro Brown Print Dress (£25), Cream Print Skinny Jeans (£35), Patchwork Skirt (£65) and Beige Crop Chelsea Girl T-shirt (£15). And HOW CUTE is the Mini Rucksack (£30)?!

This month the lovely people at River Island have given me a Grey Chelsea Girl T-shirt (it’s a size 12, but would look fab a little oversized on a 6/8/10 too!) and a Chelsea Girl cloth bag to giveaway.

I think I’d customise it, probably turn it into a cropped tee and wear it with my beige high-waisted suede shorts and red platform heels!

There are several ways to enter: comment on this post telling me how you would style the t-shirt if you won it, follow me and retweet my Freebie Friday tweet on Twitter and/or subscribe to my blog! Each one counts as a separate entry 🙂

Good luck, the winner will be announced next Friday!

Have a lovely weekend and do let me know if you make a visit to the shops!
